What a difference a day makes. The RBCers who hit the roads Sunday morning were rewarded with clear skies and warm weather. The A/B group consisted of Bob, Mark D., Eric, Jackie, Derick and me.

We left Toga a 9:00 and cruised through Nyack and Piermont at a brisk pace. The group broke up at the climb to 9W as Mark ramped up the pace. Derick took over control of the pace on the next two climbs up to Alpine. Mark, we found out later, double flatted and "lost his mojo." He and Eric finished the ride together.

Derick let me latch on after the Alpine climb, and we took turns pulling on the rollers to Ft. Lee. We paused at the bike shop to regroup. Bob rolled up and decided to break off and head into Manhattan. Jackie joined us for the remainder of the ride. We headed down onto Hudson Terrace and enjoyed the rollers and the scenery. Derick and I also took some pleasure in hearing Jackie ask, "Is this the big hill yet?" every time the road inclined. We finally made the killer climb up to the police station and opted to press on without the customary water stop.

The three of us formed a tight paceline on the northbound rollers of 9W where Jackie demonstrated her mastery of the art of drafting. We dropped down through Tallman Park, made the last climb up to 9W and enjoyed some post-ride coffee at Toga.

Thanks to all the RBCers who came out for a great workout and a good time.

Just to tack on to Ian's post, from a C group perspective, I was joined by me myself and I.   Hey, what can I say, we make a good team.  :-)

I rode down to Fort Lee, met up with Mark and Eric at the bike shop.  We chatted for a bit through the Palisades Park, until we hit the "big hill" and then they were off until I met up with them again at Toga.

It was a beautiful day, enjoyable ride and is the last day I'm wearing long sleeves again until fall!!

Really turned out to be a great day to ride. Through Piermont ave we pushed it a little to stretch the legs, then slowed through Piermont where I got the dopey idea to take Tallman road up to 9w rather than go all the way around with the group. I figured I'd meet them at the top and off we go...

Well I got to 9w and no group. I figured they'd be on me any second so I took  it nice and easy...

Of course that was until I realized that they must have been AHEAD of me! So
I ramped it up as best I could and took off after them. Didn't see anyone's rubber till I came up on Mark right off 9w on the service road. Lucky thing for him too, as he blew his Co2 and had no backup. We got his flat set and went to SB to grab some Co2's. hit the head and refuel.

Anne rolled up as we started so we stayed together until Mark flatted AGAIN! Just before the big climb to the Police Station. Turned out to be a sharp piece of salt Mark missed from the first flat...

Good ride despite the nonsense. Away on business the next few days then a ride Friday and my last big ride on Sunday then some light riding before Gran Fondo, NY!
