    Riders:
    Lloyd
    Lloyd's brother, Jun
    Lloyd's brother in-law, Charlie
    Lloyd's niece/Charlie daughter, Pristine
    Charlie's friends: Gerald, Jig, Jeff
    ... and 9,993 other riders (2,493 one day riders, 7,500 2-day riders)

    Ride STATS
    204 Miles
    3,010 ft total elevation gain,
    Avg speed 16.5 mph
    Max speed 46.4 mph
    Avg HR 147 bpm
    Max HR 168 bpm
    12:21 actual saddle time
17 hours total time *where the heck did that 4.5 hours non-riding time go?

    My nutrition for the day:
    18 bottles of sport drinks/water
    9 Chocolate GU's
    5 pkgs ClifShot ShotBloks
    11 bananas
    Equivalent of 1 whole watermelon
    17 orange slices
    5 bunches of grapes
    6 Yukon gold potatoes (yummmmy)
2 turkey sandwiches (I hate turkey sandwiches... but these tasted like the best sandwiches i've ever had in my life)
    1 roast beef sandwich
    3 chicken wraps
    3 banana bread slices
    2 snickers bars
    1 orange mango drink
    1 chocolate milk
    1 creamsicle

I had 1 flat at mile 86 that happened 25 feet from a mechanic support tent. Repair took 4 minutes.
My brother had 1 flat at mile 180, took us (me) about 40 minutes.
I stopped about 4 times to help riders along the way. One brake problem, one dropped chain, one shifting problem and one emotional breakdown.
Several crashes. Mostly bike/bike due rider inattentiveness.
One spectacular crash right in front of me on mile 74. Three riders crash, one doing about 3 flips and turns in the air. Nothing serious, lots of deep road rash and scrapes, possibly a sprained wrist. Bikes were pretty mangled. I stayed to help. About 40 minutes.

It was an long and very warm day. Everyone in our group cramped and bonked MANY times during the ride because they didn't pay attention to their hydration and nutrition.

Everyone except me :)  (See my caloric intake described above)

My brother was cramping intensely the last 15 miles and was hypoglycemic the last 4 miles. We shoved every possible electrolyte and glucose product down his throat and proceed to plow through those last few miles in more than TWO hours.

Well, the plan was to do 204 miles the first day and then double back to help my niece get through the last 100 miles on her second day.

Well, she did the entire ride in 1 day, and actually finished an hour before me and my brother.

So, we didn't have to do another 100 miles. The family is going on a picnic instead. Yoo hoooo!!

This was one the the best rides i've ever ridden. Ever.

Fantastic, Lloyd! Thrilled to hear you all finished so handily (well, even w/Jun's hypoglycemic crash). And Pristine. Pristine!!!! Maybe you should all give her training plan a try next year - "outstanding" seems an understatement for what she accomplished. I hope she was duly impressed with her performance. You're all spectacular, you make it sound a lot easier than I know it was. And you get loads of extra good karma for helping so many casualties along the way. I'm happy the gods of the good guys smiled on your adventure!

That-all wasn't really all your intake, was it? I can't imagine how you kept it all down. I think most of those extra 4 hours must've been your non-rolling eating time!!. Congrats to all of you.

"How many times did you ring the bell?"
I rang that bell at the starting horn, down the finishing chute and several hundred times in-between. I love my bell. Everyone wants one now :)

"That-all wasn't really all your intake, was it? I can't imagine how you kept it all down."
Every last calorie I ate was burned. All those fluids were sweated out.
And I was still famished and thirsty post ride: We ate at a Mexican restaurant: Enchilada/Steak/Chicken/Rice and Beans combo, chased down with a pitcher of ice cold water.

"I think most of those extra 4 hours must've been your non-rolling eating time!!."
Nope- over half of my nutrition/hydration was taken on-board my bike. Most of my off-saddle time was goofing-off with the gang, fixing mechanical issues and helping on a major crash.

"How warm did it get out there?"
55 in the early 4:30 AM start. Rose to mid 70's mid-ride. Cooled to 60's towards the evening.

"Congratulations Lloyd!" "Congrats to all of you"
Thank you. I've done this ride seven or eight times... this is the first time i've done it in one day.

"Sounds like it was an amazing day!"
It was more than amazing. This ride ranks way up there in my growing list of mid-life "athletic" achievements.
