Ian and I layered up and left Toga heading up Hook Mountain. We saw Steve heading down hill he made a quick U-turn to join us.
As we headed up the cold mountain I was already struggling to keep up with Steve and Ian. I knew I was in for a long day.
As we passed Rockland Lake Rena and Marshal appeared out of no where. I was never so happy to see them. We formed the B group. As we headed down 9W Marshal flatted a little past 304. Marshall made quick work of the flat and we were back on the road. To make up time we stayed on 9W. The construction is mostly complete and traffic was light making for a nice ride.
As we climbed Dunderberg the cold took it’s toll on our motivation. We decided to take it easy and turn around at the traffic circle on Seven Lakes.
On the way we up noticed the leaves are starting to change. Next weekend should be beautiful.
We Turned around on 7 Lakes Drive and headed back up Dunderberg past Turning Point Church and I heard a hiss. Marshall flatted again, He cut his new tire on something. Rena was ahead of us and didn’t hear us stop. Marshal again made quick work of the tire and we were on our way.
We opted to take 9W back and the rest of the ride was uneventful. We finally caught up with Rena by Rockland Lake.
The ride was chilly, but manageable. I wore the clothing suggested by http://www.bicycling.com/whattowear.
- short sleeve jersey
- shorts
- base layer
- wind vest
- arm and leg warmers
- long fingered gloves
- winter beanie.
