Dan, Bob and I got some quality miles in before the Mothers Day festivities started. We started at the New City library, passed Toga just in case anyone was waiting to join the ride there, and headed down 9W. The roads were crammed with cyclists of all stripes, and we caught a good wheel through Nyack and Piermont.
We decided to turn around at the bike shop in Ft. Lee in order to get home a little quicker. As we rolled through Nyack, Dan decided he wanted to climb the hill on 5th Street, which is monstrously steep. I barely made it up with my compact (50-36) crank and 27-tooth cog; I'm not sure how Dan managed with his old-school 53-39 and 25 tooth cog. Dan's never one to complain, though as Hook Mountain loomed over us for the second time today he did mention that 5th street "took some of the snap" out of his legs.
I really enjoyed starting the GWB route from New City for a change. We covered about 52 miles and had a great day in the saddle. Thanks, Dan and Bob, for coming out for a good ride.
