There was Cyrus, Ernie, Katie, Kim, Rich and Will joining me for a short but challenging ride in Harriman today.

We met at the Silver Mine parking area, and left a little bit late, on our way to Route 17.  Turning left out of the parking lot is an immediate climb to Tiorati Circle.  It was a good way to wake up and begin the ride.  After regrouping, we continued to the Kawawauke Circle and regrouped again.  We continued on to Route 17.  The road in spots is freshly paved, but in other places it's just horrible, and we needed to pay constant attention to bumps and cracks.

After a short break at the corner of Rt. 17, we started back, and were met by an immediate 3 mile climb.  We regrouped near the Lake Welsh turnoff, hoping to see the triathlon participants, but we didn't see anyone except the cops out on the road.  So we continued, and stopped again at Tiorati.  This time, Lila had a chain problem and Rich's seat had become loose from all the bumps in the road.  After everything was in working order, we enjoyed the downhill back to Silver Mine.

The totals for the day was just over 25 miles, about 1,350 feet of climbing, and an average speed, for me, of 15mph.

Thanks to everyone for coming out so early and riding with me.

Thanks for putting this ride together. It was a beautiful day and a great ride.

We definitely have to ride the park more often.

Great ride to warm up for the Gran Fondo the following day.  Let's do more challenging rides like this with climbing. :-)
