Cuomo Administration Members Will Present Bridge Plan and Hear from Community Members

Albany, NY (July 17, 2012) - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced community meetings regarding the new Tappan Zee Bridge project.

These first two community meetings will be held in partnership with the Business Council of Westchester and Rockland Business Association. One focus of these meetings will be working with the local business community to make sure that they understand what this project will mean for their businesses as well as the Hudson Valley as a whole.

Over the next several weeks, representatives from the Governor’s office will host a series of meetings in towns and villages in Westchester and Rockland Counties to present the administration’s comprehensive plan to build a new bridge that will be safer, transit ready and in the process will create over 45,000 jobs. Members of the administration will inform community residents on how the bridge’s construction will impact them and take questions about the project.

“After over a decade of delays, we are moving to build a new, better bridge that will be a boost to Hudson Valley residents and to the area’s economy,” said Governor Cuomo. “As we continue this process, it is essential that members of my administration go town by town and village by village to explain the details of the project and make sure all questions and concerns are addressed - and that’s exactly what we are going to do.”

Last year, Governor Cuomo secured approval from President Obama to expedite the review and approval process to allow work to begin on building a new bridge to replace the Tappan Zee.

Those wishing to attend the Rockland meetings must register ahead of time by calling 845-735-2100. Those wishing to attend the Westchester meetings must register ahead of time at http://events.westchesterny.org/sbaweb/events/events.asp?&id=1&wpid=-101...
