This ride crosses both the Newburgh-Beacon and Bear Mountain Bridges, and offers fabulous Hudson Valley scenery along the way.  Two start options offer distances of either 75 or about 45 miles.  From New City we'll head up Bike Route 9, meeting the second start at Bear Mountain.  From there, we'll stay on 9W after the Bear Mountain Circle.  We'll drop down on 218 by the West Point golf course, stopping for the obligatory pictures at the scenic overlook.  Then it's on to Newburgh where we'll cross the bridge and take 9D back to the Bear Mountain Bridge, returning from there as we came.

First start option is David's Bagels in New City, with bagels and chocolate milk available for recovery at the end.  There's even a discount for cyclists!  The store is located at 64 North Main Street, next to Shoprite.  If you drive to the ride there's plenty of parking.  Please be considerate and leave the prime spaces in front of the stores open.

Those preferring a shorter ride can meet us at the turn for Bear Mountain, or for Jones Point.  Please let me know if you plan to join the ride there, so we'll know to look for you.  We expect to be there shortly after 9:00, so be ready to roll.  There is roadside parking in either location, or you can park at Bear Mountain and ride down.

Average speed: 16+ mph overall average, 18-22 on the flats.

Total distance: about 75 miles.

This is not a no-drop ride.  We'll make sure that everyone knows the route, and there will be a couple opportunities to regroup.

Rain at the start will cancel the ride.  If it rains later we'll get wet.
